Champagne run ...

Running with friends

Yesterday evening, I had the perfect 'run'. It had all the ingredients I love... running with friends, champagne, canapé's, laughter and chocolate! ... Four of us met at Katy's house, so there were five of us all together. It was a typical winters night, it was dark at 18.30 and very cold. We put on our reflective clothing and we were out of the door.
It did not feel as cold as it actually was, because as soon as we started running we were all chatting away. I usually do not like to run in the dark, but I feel a lot safer and comfortable when I am in a group, there is safety in numbers. Besides, although it was dark there was light from houses, street lights and sometimes moving vehicles. We cruised along at a good pace, it was slightly hilly in parts, so we got slightly out of breath, but that was good because it helped warm us up.
Time flew by and before I knew it we had been running for 50mins and were back at Katy's place, it felt more like 5mins because of all the chatting... time flew by!... I talked about the inaguration and how inspiring it was for me, but one of the main reasons I feel so proud of Barack Obama is because the leader of the free world is a runner just like me!

Champagne awaiting!

When we had finished our run, we arrived back at Katy's house and her husband had some champagne chilling in a bucket...bliss! ... We were spoilt rotten! ... I had a couple of glasses and there were also some bits to nibble on. Katy gave me a beautifully wrapped box of chocolate, I couldnt wait to tuck into it before I left. So I guess, as usually happens at our runs, I ended up consuming more calories than I burnt off, however, tomorrow I will be sensible :-). So yeap, it was a perfect 'run' ... running with friends, an invitation to dinner, champagne, laughter, chocolate ... What more can a girl ask from a run? ...Thanks to Pieter, Katy, Jacqueline, Bridgette and Eric ...It truly was a lovely champagne run!
